Standing in Holy Places
Standing in holy places means that I will not bend to the will of others only to the will of God. Yesterday I went on a walk with Colleen we talked about a mutual friend, Katy, who is a member and marrying in the temple. As part of some family drama, her parents are not attending. Colleen asked if there were reason they may not be able to attend. I explained that they would need a temple recommend. She then asked if they could be married first outside of the temple and then walk in and be married inside. I told her that she could not. Colleen responded, but if it was for the "good of her family" that she didn't get married in the temple since they could not all go. I affirmed that it is for the "good of her family" that she get sealed in the temple first. She could have a ring ceremony or other celebration for her family afterwards, but getting married outside of the temple is different, the words are different, the promises are different. Standing in holy places is what Katy is doing. Standing strong knowing that getting sealed in the temple trumps any family drama that may be going on.
